My Life as an RA

Posts Tagged ‘Weekend

Good morning everyone! It is Monday!

This weekend I stayed at school and decided to go on rounds of the campus with my boss because he was RDOD, (resident director on duty). The campus was swarming with people, but nothing was “happening.”

When we were leaving the last building we had to visit, he saw someone throw a HUGE traffic cone out the window. We obviously cannot ignore things like this because not only is it a policy violation, but it puts others in harm. He called public safety and when we got up to the apartment, no one answered the door.

Finally a girl and a guy answered the door and said that they did not live in the apartment and that everyone had left them. We let them go and soon enough we see a huge crowd of people coming towards the room and so we tell them to stop and they RUN!!!

We went on a chase, only to find out that no one left the building, but that they ran into another room.(which we did not have a clue which room) When we went back up to the apartment, 3 guys were there. Tt was an all girl apartment, so once again, none of them lived there.

We started to get annoyed because people continued to try to come back, but no one lived there. We told everyone to leave and locked the apartment door that the girls had left unlocked. The cone culprit is yet to be found.

The rest of the night consisted of us riding around campus with the police officers, waiting for a call. We had no calls, just plenty of jokes from car to car.

If it’s one thing I have learned as an RA, it’s that when you are expecting something to happen, nothing happens, when you expect a quiet night, EVERYTHING happens.

It was just one of those wierd Friday nights where nothing happened…

OH WELL!! GOOD FOR US!!! NO REPORTS!! =)

Have a great week everyone!

Hey all!!

So by now you all know that I am an RA off campus. Well last night I decided to come to campus because I needed to get some shots of all the RA’s for superlatives that we are doing.

As soon as I get to campus, I see some officers and go over to talk to them. They were rushing to their car becasue there was a fire alarm. I hopped right in with them and took a ride over. When we got there, not even half of the RA staff was around to do rounds of the building…I am so glad I was there to help.

What I thought was funny was the officer in the car in front of us was speeding over to the building, and they had already announced over the radio that there was no actual fire.

If you guys could see that man run out of a car you would laugh. He had the silliest waddle run I HAD EVER SEEN!!

It kind of looked something like this. Except he had a lot of clothes on and was shorter =) Very entertaining.

Anyways.. after the round was done, I went around to all the buildings and filmed as many RA’s as possible, and I ended up getting back to my apartment at around 1AM.

  • What I miss about campus: seeing so many faces
  • What I do not miss about campus: being sucked in and staying up late…and going to fire alarms (we have plenty)

THATS ALL I GOT TODAY!!

HAPPY FRIDAY…ENJOY THE WEEKEND!!

Hey bloggers,

So Friday night was an interesting night to say the least. Besides the fact that I had to sit downstairs at the duty desk until 2am, I got to see some interesting residents. I have no funny stories to tell today and I would like so say we had another successful weekend here in the building. NO DAMAGES!! WOOT WOOT!! =)

What I did get to see was a lot of drunk residents with a sweet tooth. I brought a bag of 250 dum dum lollipops to the desk with me and let me tell you, by the end of the night I barely had any left. I had residents grabbing them by the handfuls, and even some that would come downstairs just  to grab more and more. By the end of the night, the residents were getting pretty drunk and excited about these lollipops. On my last round or so I ended up having to pick up lots of lolis on the 4th floor because some residents decided to go on a loli throwing frenzy (note to self: next time limit the number of lolis =P)

ANYWAYS… my favorite resident of the night was one who came downstairs specifically to grab some lollipops. He decided that he wanted to get the mystery flavor, but feared what flavor he would get. I told him to close his eyes and pick, he did so, and let me tell you it was so funny! He closed his eyes and lightly caressed each lollipop until he found the perfect one. He opened the wrapper and it was a beige colored pop. With excitement he tried it and when we asked the flavor his answer was ” I honestly do not know…I think I smoke too much that my taste-buds are shot.” SO MUCH FOR THAT!!!

Speaking of funny quotes, another resident said his lollipop tasted like strawberries and vodka. HAHAH… the officer with me turns to me after the resident leaves and says the strawberry is the pop, the vodka, what he must be drinking. GOOD TIMES ON FRIDAY NIGHT!!!

To end this happy post, here is a picture of the penguin ice cream cake I made yesterday!

HAPPY MONDAY!!

Hey bloggers!

This weekend was a long weekend (thank you presidents!) Because of that I was able to go home. My boyfriend and I were not able to celebrate valentines day so we sort of did this past weekend.

For valentines, he got us nerf guns! I do not know where to begin to describe the excitement of loading the bullets, cocking the gun, and shooting! I got a little carried away and hit him in the face several times including his eyes. Lesson learned… wear goggles =P

When I had to come back, I really wanted to bring the gun but I couldn’t because of school policy. Unfortunately my nerf fun is done…until next time!

“no hall sports” (one of the rules we need to enforce as an RA) Don’t want to get caught now do we? Maybe next time I’ll bring it in a pull the “I didn’t know my room was included in hall sports” card, or the “nerf isn’t a sport” or just say “it’s nerf or nothing” and close the door!

We’ll see what happens!
